Russell J. Pope
Russ Pope is a 1976 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. Following submarine service in the Western Pacific and duty at the National Security Agency, he attended law school at the University of Texas, where he was an editor of the Texas Law Review, graduating in 1984.
Russ then joined the Baltimore firm of Miles & Stockbridge as an associate in the litigation department, where he practiced in the areas of commercial, corporate, and insurance defense litigation. He left private practice in 1988 to form the in-house litigation group at Maryland National Bank. While there, he represented the bank in state and federal courts, and supervised several other attorneys in that group.
Russ joined Treanor Pope & Hughes in 1992. Since then, he has represented firm clients in the areas of class action litigation, banking litigation, commercial and corporate litigation, and environmental litigation. He also has served as a guest lecturer on the litigation risks faced by financial institutions.
Apart from his active law practice, Russ sits on the Board of Directors for Justice Ventures International, Inc., a non-profit organization that secures freedom and restoration for victims of human trafficking in India and China. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for Norlink International, Inc., a non-profit community development organization that sponsors projects in third-world countries.
Russ has been married for over 30 years and is the father of two grown children. He enjoys sailing and foreign travel in his spare time.
